It's Almost Christmas

The holiday season is upon us. I cannot believe that Christmas is only two days away! I absolutely love this time of year when we are able to celebrate the birth of our dear Savior with family and friends. Janell and Cameron got in to town the other day and that night all the power throughout most the valley went out at about 6:00. It was off until a little after 2 AM. Jesse was working a night shift so Atreyu and I went to Eddie and Bernie's and stayed the night there. Unfortunately, the next day I started feeling sick. I tried to drink a lot of fluids and I hoped it would go away but the next morning I woke up and it was even worse. I went to the doctor and it turns out that I have strep throat so I have been trying to stay away from the family since I don't want to get them sick as well. I am feeling better but what a terrible time to get sick.

Here are a few pictures of Atreyu. I got him to sit still long enough to get a picture of him in front of the tree (which he loves to try to play with). The other day Atreyu was crawling around and he was in between the living room and the kitchen so Machida decided to crawl up on him. It was so cute and I was lucky enough to get some pictures of it. After a bit Diesel decided he wanted in the pictures as well and he ended up kicking Atreyu and pushing Machida out of the way. Atreyu loves his dogs and I am trying to make sure that they don't lick him too much.

A Couple New Tricks

Atreyu seems to be doing so many new things so quickly anymore. A couple days after Thanksgiving, Atreyu started doing this "army crawl" and now he goes everywhere. It is so fun to watch him but now that he can get to me on his own, he thinks I need to pick him up as soon as he gets there. He really loves getting into the Christmas presents and the Xbox remotes. I really think that Christmas is going to be a lot of fun with him.

Arteyu is also able to feed himself...kind of. We just started giving him little finger foods and he is slowly figuring it out. Whenever he sees us eating, he thinks he needs to be eating as well. He does pretty well drinking right out of a cup. He's a very smart little boy!

This and That

Atreyu had an appointment with an eye doctor last week about his clogged tear duct. The doctor told us that he would need to have it surgically opened. We were able to get in to have it done this past Wednesday and Atreyu did really well. The doctor said Atreyu had a pretty big blockage there and it probably wouldn't have opened on it's own. His eye hasn't been watering at all since. Yay!!!! This picture was taken a few hours after the surgery. He had a cold as well as a very slight bloody nose from the surgery. I think he is such a brave boy. Atreyu loves bath time! We are getting him some fun bath toys for Christmas but until then he has some spoons, a cup and a rubber duck. He probably wouldn't care about cooler bath toys right now...he loves the cup and spoons!

Atreyu has also become more mobile. I need to get some videos but here is a picture of him getting into a drawer in the bathroom. I left him for maybe a minute and I came back and found him like this. He was holding himself up with the drawer. He definitely isn't staying my little baby but he is getting more and more fun all the time. He has started army crawling and I'm sure it won't be much longer until he has the actual "crawl" down.

It's Winter in Bear Lake

It's winter time already! Where has the year gone? It started snowing yesterday and we have a ton of snow. I guess this storm is supposed to last for another day or so. This morning, we were all getting ready for church and it was about time to go when Eddie and Bernie caught us and said they needed help bringing the cows out of the hills because of all the snow. Jesse and our friend Josh went up with them. Atreyu and I were going to go but Eddie and Bernie didn't feel comfortable bringing Atreyu up into the hills. So instead, we are waiting here until Jesse calls us and we will turn the cows at the bottom of our road. Since Atreyu was already bundled up, we went out and took a few pictures in the snow. I know some people really hate the snow and winter, but I honestly love it. I just think it is a fun time of year. I am really glad this year that I don't have to go out and drive to work every morning in this weather. Being a stay-at-home Mom truly is the best thing ever!

Hammer Time

Just like the big boys at Lagoon, Atreyu likes hammer time too. I didn't get it on the video, but he was playing with the hammer and it fell off the bed. He got pretty upset and starting crying but he was happy again as soon as I put the hammer back up there. Like father like son.

Bloomington Lake and Anniversary

I just got some pictures off of Bernie's camera and I found the ones when we went up to Bloomington Lake on the 4th of July. It was a nice little hike and the lake was beautiful. We had a great day but it was a little cooler than the 4th of July usually is.

Jesse and I celebrated our 6th anniversary on October 29th. Grandma and Grandpa watched Atreyu for us when we went out to dinner. We went to this new place in town called Lott's and, boy, do they have the best desserts ever! We had a great time and it was fun to have some time to ourselves. I do have to admit, however, that I missed my little Atreyu even though it was only a couple of hours.

Halloween!!

Wow...I cannot believe that it is November already! Where does the time go? We had a good Halloween. Jesse had to work so I took Atreyu around to just a few houses here in Bern and then we went in to the hospital to visit Jesse. Atreyu really did not like it when I tried getting the costume on him but once it was on, he seemed to like it. He was the cutest dragon that I have ever seen! We had a pretty good time.

Below is a video of Atreyu in his jumper. He loves that thing! He can get going pretty good sometimes and it is really fun to watch him. Because of the jumper he thinks that when you are holding him in a standing position he needs to jump. It gets very tiring after a while.

There are so many things coming up to look forward to. My Mom and possibly my Grandma are coming for a visit this weekend and I am really excited to see them. Then there is Thanksgiving which we were supposed to spend with my family in Montana but unfortunately, Jesse has to work. And lastly, my favorite holiday, Christmas. I am so excited (I get that way every year). This is the best time of the whole year!

Video Time

So I of course forgot to take pictures of our Lagoon trip but we had a blast with everyone. Atreyu was good the whole day! He loves being outside. It is obviously the week of Halloween here in Bear Lake...we woke up to a skif of snow the last two mornings and it has gotten a lot colder. I am really looking forward to taking Atreyu trick-or-treating (only to a few houses) in his cute little dragon costume. He is so adorable in it. Pictures to come.
Here's a video of Atreyu. Josh is holding him and shaking his belly anytime he makes a noise and it's pretty funny. I am just loving being a mother and having the opportunity to stay home with Atreyu. I know Jesse misses the extra money (I miss it too) but I am so grateful to him that he works so hard to support us so that I am able to stay home with our little boy.

Fall is in the Air

I can't believe how the time has flown! In September we went to the St. Anthony sand dunes with Jesse's parents and Josh and Kim. We had so much fun! I never had really driven on the dunes and honestly I really didn't want to but Jesse convinced me to and I ended up having a great time. Unfortunately, I forgot to take pictures of our fun trip but we all had a blast!

Atreyu is now 25 weeks old...almost 6 months! He has been somewhat cranky lately and it turns out, he's teething. He's a really good baby most the time, so it was really strange that he was so ornery. He has his next appointment on Thursday but I know that he is already weighing about 19 pounds. He has more than doubled his birth weight already and he doesn't seem to be slowing down at all. We have a free standing jumper for him that has toys all around and a rotating seat and he recently realized that he could bounce. He gets going pretty good sometimes and he really loves it. He also has starting rolling all over the place and he is getting pretty good at sitting.

Jesse and I will be celebrating our 6th anniversary at the end of this month. I can't believe it has already been that long but at the same time it seems like we have been together forever. The year that he was gone when we were first married seems like it was years and years ago when it was only 5 years ago. We are going on a little mini vacation this weekend with some family and friends and I am really excited for it. Hopefully I will remember to take pictures this weekend and then I will post them.

Twelve Weeks of Trey

I cannot believe how time flies!! Atreyu is twelve weeks old today. He's still a baby obviously but he definitely is no longer a newborn. It makes me somewhat sad but it is so much fun to see him grow and learn new skills. He smiles all the time now and he has started talking...well, cooing rather. We are trying to teach him to take a bottle so that when we are on the long car ride to Montana, we don't have to stop every couple hours to feed him. He is doing pretty well with it. If I was going back to work, today would be my first day back but I am lucky and get to stay home with my handsome boy.

Atreyu Jesse Kunz

So much has happened since my last posting. Little Atreyu Jesse Kunz was born on April 20 at 4:23 pm. He weighed 8 lbs 7 oz and was 20 and 3/4 inches long.

He gave us a good scare. My water broke at about 2 in the morning and we went to the hospital at about 6:30. They started me on antibiotics since I was Group Strep B positive. Things progressed pretty well. I ended up getting an epidural but I don't really know what time that was. I dilated to almost a 7 but he just wasn't able to drop down. My doctor decided to do a c-section. Sometime in between them monitoring baby in labor and delivery and by the time they got him out, his heart had completely stopped. They did CPR and and intubated him and finally after 3 incredibly long minutes they got his heart going and got him breathing.

It turns out that there was some kind of infection in my placenta. I had spiked a fever right before the c-section and he had one as well. They put him on antibiotics and we were hoping he would only have to be on them for 72 hours. Unfortunately, the morning we were going to take him home, he started doing worse and we ended up having to send him to the NICU in Pocatello. He was there for a week and improved completely. Atreyu is 5 weeks old now and he's doing great. He eats all the time and is gaining weight. He is such a sweet baby and he's pretty well behaved except early in the morning. He loves mornings and wants to be awake and look around and I hate mornings. Maybe we can think of some kind of compromise.

This was taken at Bear Lake Memorial Hospital before we had to send him to the NICU.

Dad and Trey hanging out in the NICU.

The IV in his hand was the fourth he had to have. He has been poked and prodded probably more than I have. What a little trooper.

Here he is a few weeks old chillin' on the LoveSac.

35 Weeks and 5 Days

Finally, here is a new belly picture. Up to date, I have gained two pounds less than what they say I should have so that makes me pretty happy and he is also a big baby so there's some more weight that might not be mine. Yay!! I had an ultrasound at 35 weeks and 1 day and his measurements were 2 1/2 weeks ahead. My doctor thinks that my due date could be two weeks off which would make it April 7th but he hasn't actually moved it yet. Regardless, I hope this little, or should I say big, guy comes early. The ultrasound weighed him at 7 lbs 3 ounces but that could be off. I am getting so excited and I am trying to be patient.

32 Weeks and 2 Days

I had an ultrasound on Friday and our little guy is doing very well. His measurements put him at about 5 pounds already and his head is down low. We also got a good shot of him sucking his thumb so it will be interesting to see if he keeps up the habit or not. I have recently got to experience heartburn just about every day which has been weird for me since I never have had it before. I have trouble putting on socks and shoes but other than that I am doing pretty well. Just very excited!!

My Puppies

I was looking back on this small blog and I realized that I never put pictures up of our sweet, spoiled Machida. We gave Brutus back to the shelter because we just couldn't break him of his naughty habits. After returning him, we got a Boston Terrier puppy from my cousin Zac and we named him Machida. He is such a fun little dog and he and Diesel love each other. I am so glad that we have these sweet dogs in our life. They really are part of our family and I love both of them so much!

28 Weeks

I had another ultrasound done yesterday just for fun (it's nice being an employee of the hospital). Our little man is still measuring exactly 2 weeks ahead. Everything looks really good and he moves all the time. Well, that is except for when I tell Jesse to feel him, and then the movement stops. I think he likes to play games with his dad. I am starting to get a little more uncomfortable and I do not sleep too well at night. With Annie and Cody having their baby it really makes me wish ours was here now too. But I will be patient (I guess I have no other choice) so he can be as healthy as possible.

Baby Bump

Here are just a couple pictures of my little baby bump finally. As of these pictures, I am exactly 26 weeks along. We had an ultrasound last week and our little baby boy was measuring two weeks ahead. My doctor told me that could mean that he could come early, be big or both. Either way, we are so excited!

Also, for Christmas Jesse gave me some baby clothes that he had picked out all by himself. I guess the gift technically wasn't even for me but it was my favorite gift. Here are some pictures of the outfits. I just love the one with the tools!
