Fort Casey

This past weekend we drove down to Everett and took the ferry over to Whidbey Island. It was one of our rare, non-rainy days. We went to an old military fort called Fort Casey. Atreyu loved playing "army" with the giant disappearing guns. There were different stairways and hallways. Some of them were a bit dark and kind of scary. It didn't help that Jesse kept teasing everyone by making zombie sounds but that's what dads are for.
At the fort we were able to go down some stairs to this beach covered in driftwood. People had made a bunch of different little forts along the beach and the kids had fun finding and playing in them all.
We found this steep path back up to the top of the hill that the kids had to climb up (and then climb back down).
We then went over to the lighthouse at the fort. It was so darling! Since it's so late in the season, we weren't able to go inside but we enjoyed just being able to see it.
The kids then climbed trees for a bit and we were able to go down to the beach again and have a picnic before it got dark. Cambria is doing awesome writing her name, even in the sand.
Just another good day with my favorite people.

Mukilteo Beach and Lighthouse

A couple Saturdays ago, we headed over to Mukilteo beach. There was a cute little lighthouse and some fun pieces of driftwood the kids had a blast playing on. We got there somewhat late in the day so we didn't have a lot of time to play before it got dark.
We noticed some people there having campfires so we decided to go back the next day and have a hot dog roast. We walked all along the beach and found sea shells and played on the driftwood. I am loving seeing this beautiful area. I'm glad that our kids have the opportunity to see so many different parts of our country.

Hanging Out With My Babies

I love the time I get to spend with my kids. We have school every morning and then we are free to do what we want. We love to walk over to the lake, feed the ducks, and play on the playground.
I also appreciate the times when Jesse stays with the kids and I am able to get away and do my own thing. Best of both worlds.

Halloween 2016

The Wednesday before Halloween we went to the ward's trunk-or-treat. They had a dinner and a bunch of games before the trunk-or-treating. Jesse painted Atreyu's zombie face and Atreyu ended up making a little girl cry because he looked so scary. Jesse felt bad but I could tell he was proud of his work. Cambria went as a Power Puff Girl. It had these glasses she could wear to make it look like she had giant eyes but she didn't like to wear them. She also kept getting upset that people thought that the giant bow in her hair was ears.
Cambria decided that for trick-or-treating on Halloween she would be a genie instead. Thankfully we had the costume already and I was able to add a few things to make her look more "genie-ish". Atreyu loved his zombie costume and wanted Jesse to paint his face again instead of wearing the mask that came with it. Jesse did awesome again.
We missed trick-or-treating in Bern but it was fun to be able to go out to one neighborhood, walk all around, and have overflowing buckets in less than an hour. It was a good Halloween.
