A Ride in the Hills

While Jesse was home on Saturday, we went on a four-wheeler ride with Eddie and Bernie. It was such a beautiful day! We rode up in the Bern Hills and went up North Canyon. All the melting snow and rain has created a bunch of streams and little waterfalls. Cambria was riding with me and she kept pointing to the water and saying, "look at the pretty water." She was a great little rider. Atreyu rode with Jesse on the raptor but he got his leg too close to the engine and got a burn on his ankle. He cried for a bit and then was just fine and ended up riding with Grandma and Grandpa in the side-by-side. It was so fun to get out and enjoy the beautiful area we're lucky enough to live in.

Atreyu's Fun Run!

Every spring, Atreyu's school has a big fundraiser called the "Fun Run." People can either donate one set amount or they can pledge the child and pay so much per lap the child runs. There are cool prizes the kids can win if the get the most money. Atreyu went out with Samantha Harper one day to collect donations and when he came back I couldn't believe how much money people had given him. I decided he actually had a chance to win a prize so I drove him around a couple times so he could ask for donations. He's really hoping he wins the green machine.
The run was last Thursday and he did awesome! Each lap was 1/8 of a mile. I honestly didn't think he would run too many and he ended up running 14 laps! I was so surprised and so proud of him. He had one lady sponsor him and he said knowing that helped him to run a lot and then Bernie, Cambria, and I were there cheering him on.
After collecting all the donations and pledges, Atreyu ended up with $412.61. The money is due on Wednesday and then they will announce the winner. He has a great chance of winning a prize.

Time With Dad

It's been difficult not having Jesse around much. We all miss him and I think we all have our little break down moments when we wish he was here. I know that he is missing us and that this whole thing is most difficult for him. The only good thing is that when we are with him, we make an effort to have better quality time together than we used to. We play games, Jesse plays with the kids almost the instant he walks through the door, and I'm nice and let the kids stay up past their bedtime. One time Cambria and Jesse snuggled up and took a nap together.
Jesse, Atreyu, and I went to the new Captain America movie in Logan. I so enjoyed hanging out with my two favorite boys and we all loved the movie. It's fun watching Atreyu watch superhero movies. He loves them so much and gets so excited!
As difficult as it is being apart, I know this won't last forever and that it's a stepping stone to where we want to end up. I am so thankful for Jesse and his hard work for us. I love him so much!

Fun With Asher

The same week I hurt my foot, I had Asher come over and spend a few days with us. He was so good and the kids had so much fun with him here. I had to keep my foot elevated one of the days he was here but the kids all had a great time playing outside in the beautiful weather. I got our little pool out and they all just played and played. I kind of dread summer because I know I'll have a bunch of yard work to do but I love the nice temperatures and that the kids can just have fun outside.
We are so blessed and lucky to live in such a beautiful area.

Cranky Cambria!

Last week Cambria wanted a Costco muffin to eat in her room. I told her the only way I would let her do that was if I cut the muffin into bite-sized pieces. She said okay and then got really mad when she saw how I cut it. She threw a big fit and then realized that wasn't getting her anywhere and she decided it was okay to eat it. That girl!

A Stupid Mistake

Last summer I accidentally sterilized a spot in my lawn so two weeks ago I dug it all up so we could replace the dirt. I put all the dirt in a trash can and when I went to move it I realized it was crazy heavy but I thought I could handle it anyway. Big, stupid, mistake! I ended up dropping the huge trash can on my foot. My foot was actually stuck under it for a few minutes before I was able to pull it out. I had a bunch of kids with me but none of them could do anything to help. When I was finally able to pull it out, I just laid there on my gravel driveway for a bit. I got up and limped around for a while and then it started to fell a lot better so I kept working.

When we went inside a couple hours later and I sat down for dinner, it started hurting so bad! It was swelling and bruising and by the end of the night I couldn't put any pressure on it at all. I was so worried that it was broken.
I talked to Jesse and he told me to keep my foot iced and elevated all night and all the next day. I kept off it as best I could and by the end of the second day, I could put almost complete pressure on it.
It has continued to get better. All the swelling is gone but there is still some bruising and the spot where the trash can hit on my ankle is still kind of tender. I am keeping it wrapped and Jesse said that even though it doesn't hurt much, I could still have a small break. I'm too cheap to go to the doctor and it keeps feeling better. Maybe I'll go to the doctor if it's still bothering me in a couple weeks. Such a stupid mistake.

A Kitchen Update

I have been contemplating painting my kitchen island black for quite sometime and a couple weeks ago I decided to take the plunge and do it. I really didn't want to sand it so I primed it twice and did three layers of paint. So far, it's holding up great and I love how it turned out. I think it added character to my kitchen and it tied the black wall in really well. I love it!

A Picnic at the Skate Park

A few weeks ago, Olivia Harper invited us to go on a picnic with them at the park in town. There are swings, slides, a merri-go-round, and a skate park. The kids loved the skate park and had fun climbing up the tall ramp and sliding down. It started out kind of cool and I didn't have a jacket but it turned into a very beautiful day.

Campaigning

Our good buddy, John Olson, is running for prosecutor here in Bear Lake. The primary elections are tomorrow and I'm really hoping he wins. He would be wonderful for our community. A few weeks ago, the Browers came over and Annie and I sat outside Broulim's doing some campaigning for John. Well, we sat outside until it got too cold, and then we went inside. We got a lot of good feedback and it was fun being able to spend time with my bestie.
