Fun With Atreyu

I really cannot believe that my little baby boy is a toddler running around, getting into things and (at times) driving me crazy. I don't know where the time has gone but I am so thankful we have been blessed to have his sweet spirit in our home. It was a beautiful day outside a couple weeks ago so we filled up the pool (which he didn't really play in because the water was so cold) and we had a fun time outside. He loves being outside almost any chance he can get.

Anytime Atreyu sees the camera (whether people are taking pictures or not) he says "cheese". He found my camera the other day and brought it to me so I could take pictures of him and, of course, they were all cheesy pictures.

He has also loved to take bubble baths recently and today there were a lot more bubbles than usual and I thought to myself, "Self, you haven't taken many pictures of Atreyu in a bubble bath," so that's what I did.

The morning after we got back from the sand dunes, Atreyu came into our room and the first thing he said was, "more camping". He loved being outside all day long, sleeping in a tent and riding the "wa-was". I wish I had taken some pictures but hopefully I will remember next time. I have my wonderful and horrible moments living with this toddler with what seems to be mood swings but I will take all the horrible moments just to have him in my life. I can say that right now because he is sleeping and we had a wonderful evening ;) but in all honesty, it is true.

Birthday, Dunes and Father's Day

Unfortunately, I did not take any pictures to go along with this post. Jesse turned 30 the other day. We didn't do much on his birthday but this past weekend, as part of his gift for his birthday and Father's Day, we went to the sand dunes in St. Anthony. We went up on Friday with Jesse's parents and Josh. We were planning on staying through Monday but on Sunday it got so windy we decided to pack up and come home. We were able to get some good riding in on Friday and Saturday though. I decided I would try riding with Jesse and see how I felt and I was just fine the whole time. It was nice that I was able to go out and have fun with everyone without being stuck back at camp. Atreyu rode with Josh secured to him with one of those baby front carrier things. He LOVED it! I am thankful Josh is such a good sport and packed Atreyu around. On our last ride on the way back to camp, Atreyu got really tired and told Josh to stop. Josh stopped and Atreyu laid his head down on the handle bars ready to take nap. He was mad when Josh wouldn't let him do that. It was pretty funny.

I wanted to do something kind of big for Jesse's 30th birthday but we have been so busy it's been hard to do anything. He did get the sand dunes, however, and he is also getting a new computer. I was trying to plan something out at the lake this coming weekend with friends but it seems everyone has something else going on so we will probably just hang out together and maybe have a hot dog roast or something in the backyard.

I am getting more and more excited about this little baby that's coming. Sleeping on an air mattress for 2 nights made me very grateful for my bed. My hips would hurt and I constantly had to change sides but it was fun to be able to go camping. I am getting more uncomfortable but it is totally worth it.

Backyard Part 3

Our backyard is finally looking like a backyard! I am so excited to have a place to play behind our house and not just a weed patch. We got the fence all put up last fall and this spring we planted grass. It is coming in very nicely and we are able to play on it now. Atreyu has been having fun with his swingset and sandbox. We still need to get a lid for the sandbox so right now we are just using a tarp. We have used our fire pit 4 or 5 times already this spring. It's so fun to be able to roast hot dogs in your own backyard. We are planning on doing more with the firepit but right now we have just lined the hole with rocks and it works great!

The landscaping behind the house is looking so good! We are planning on putting mulch around all the plants and then we have some small river type rocks that we are going to use to fill in the rest of the space. My favorite part is still the steps into the yard but I also love the way Jesse made the border with all the rocks. I think the only negative to this backyard is the lack of shade but we will eventually do something about that too.
