Oh, Summertime!

I can't believe that it's almost August. This summer is flying by which honestly I don't mind much. I enjoy the summer but I love the fall and I actually really like winter. At the beginning of July Atreyu started martial arts classes and he finally got his gi. He was so excited to put it on and he's doing pretty well.
I was walking down from Eddie and Bernie's the other day and I saw this little orange kitty that I thought was ours. I noticed it's eyes looked hurt but as I approached it it ran away. I realized it was a wild cat. I gave it some food and was able to pet it once. Abigael got a few pets in and then Cambria came out and picked it right up. We started taking care of it and he's looking a lot better now. The kids love him but he still doesn't like to be held much. These are pictures of when we first brought him home.
I took the kids school supply shopping in Logan last week. I can't believe my little boy is old enough to need school supplies. My sweet kids are growing so quickly. After all the shopping we got some ice cream at Coldstone Creamery.
Yesterday Atreyu was playing at the Harper's and Jesse and I were watching a show inside. Cambria came in crying and looking like this...
Jesse and I couldn't help laughing. She wasn't too hurt but she was very upset. It took a while but I got all the brambles out of her hair and put her in a nice bubble bath.
She told me she had fallen off her bike and she wanted me to pick it up. I found her bike on the east side of the truck where she had fallen. I'm a little surprised she wasn't hurt more.
I love the area we live in. My kids can play outside without me having to worry about them. We have neighbors close enough if we need something but we have some privacy too. There are times when I wish he lived in a city (or at least closer to one) but then I realize just how lucky I am to live in the Bear Lake Valley with this wonderful family of mine.

Renaissance Faire

While the Taylor kids were here we went to the Dragon Fyre Renaissance Faire in Soda Springs. It was the first renaissance fair that I have ever been to. It was small but a lot of fun. The girls loved the mermaids, we all had fun watching the knights fight, and all the kids except Enoch were "knighted" by the queen. We met Annie and Cody Brower and Josh and Kim Kunz there and we all had a great time. The fairies did some belly dancing and the younger kids had a blast on the teeter totters.
Eddie and Enoch didn't have near as much fun as the rest of us...honestly they wanted to leave pretty quickly. I loved it enough that I want to go again next year and the nerd in me wants to get some really cool attire to wear to it. I love having neat experiences like these that I can share with my kids. I really wish Jesse could have been there with us.

Butch Cassidy Day

Every year Montpelier has a Butch Cassidy Day celebration. I've never gone before but Abigael, Enoch, and Alora were here visiting so we all went with Grandma and the kids to check it out. Kings had free BBQ hot dogs and the kids we able to demo some air soft guns. They also got to spin a wheel inside and win a prize.
We then went to Zion's Bank where the kids put on a shower cap with shaving cream on it and they had to try to get cheese puffs in the other persons shaving cream. They all had fun and it was really entertaining to watch.
The kids were able to put on some fake mustaches and pose in a carriage. The gun Atreyu is holding is the prize he won at Kings.
We then walked over to the Butch Cassidy museum where Abigael won a fun top hat for winning the bean bag toss. We then took "wanted" pictures.
We finished off the day by shooting hoops on a giant chair at Broulims, playing horseshoes at Ireland Bank, and then doing a sack race at Remax. It was a great day!

Playing at Home

I got Atreyu a subscription to this Lego magazine and in it we saw that kids could send pictures in of things they had built. He wanted to build something just so he could send in a picture. He built this car/truck thing all on his own. He was pretty proud. I think it turned out awesome! I don't think I could have built it.
Isabella Harper was here while he was building so she had to build something too.
A few weeks ago Kendra Higley gave Cambria this toy hair set. She likes to fix Daddy's hair. Here she is cutting, blow drying, and curling his hair. What a good daddy!

Car Show and Circus

We have had a busy month with a lot going on. Eddie, Bernie, and I took the kids to the car show and they had a blast. They were able to sit in a few different vehicles and there was a boy driving around a little train and giving kids rides. Atreyu and Cambria loved it but we had to walk along beside it so they wouldn't get scared.
Cambria especially loved this little car. It's on old pedal car and she was the right size to sit in it. Atreyu was too big but he liked to hold the gas pump hose.
While we were waiting for Grandma and Grandpa the kids started climbing a tree and it looked like the perfect photo op. I love how these turned out.
Jesse and I were also able to take the kiddos to a circus a few weeks ago. The morning of the kids and I went to the fairgrounds and watched them set up the big top. We got a tour and we were able to see all the animals. The kids both loved the animals and the acrobats.
The only pictures we got at the circus were of the kids riding ponies. The circus was great! When they brought the lion out his stare was so intimidating. The master at one point put his face right by the lions mouth. It was so crazy!
It was nice spending time with our little family. We all had a good time and I love the time we have together.
