Some Thoughts

I can't believe that in a week from tomorrow we will be welcoming a new baby girl into our family. I don't think I could be more excited but at the same time it's almost bittersweet. I keep thinking that it will never be just me and Atreyu again. That's not a bad thing at all, it's just that I have really enjoyed being with him and being able to focus all my attention on him. It will probably be a good thing to have our sweet baby here to take some of that attention so maybe Atreyu will become slightly less attached. He truly is the little boy I had in my dream however many years ago who loved me so much. I am so thankful to have him in my life and for the joy he has brought to our family.

I also wanted to jot down some of the words he says that are kind of funny or different so I won't forget them.
Bah-bot -- Blanket
Mah-mot -- His toy monkey
Naw-si-no -- Motorcycle
Wuh-wuh -- 4-wheeler
Nums -- M&M's
I will post more if I think of any.

He is such a smart kid. He has an excellent memory and can talk your ear off. He likes to tell stories of things that have happened to him and you almost always have to repeat what he says or he will just keep saying it. He likes to help me clean whether it be scrubbing the tub or dusting. He loves to go out with Dad and Papa and help them with any project they have outside. He loves tools so I found this really inexpensive tool set that we are giving him for Christmas. He is getting better with other kids but he is still learning. He sometimes shares really well...sometimes. I am thankful that we have such a sweet little helper around the house.

Just the Two of Us

With Jesse's crazy shift-work schedule, it sometimes feels like we hardly ever see him. I decided that since Jesse was working a night shift last night, Atreyu and I would go on a little date. We ate at Arctic Circle where Atreyu had his "chichen and fries" and where he was also able to play on the slide. He had fun in the play area but there were some bigger kids that were acting kind of crazy. I think they made him a little nervous. We then went to see the movie Brave. It was the first movie we have ever taken Atreyu to and he sat through the whole thing and loved it. We got pop, popcorn and he got some "nums" (M&M's). It was a fun thing to do that will probably be a little tougher to do once baby comes.

Speaking of baby, I had an appointment yesterday and everything looks good. No dilating yet (even though I was hoping I would be at least at 1 cm). The longer she stays in, the better though. They scheduled the c-section for August 3rd so unless she comes on her own, I have about 2 weeks left.

Today I got the finger paints out (which Atreyu wouldn't even touch at Christmas time) and he had a lot of fun painting and getting dirty hence the bath that he is in right now. I told him I wanted to take a picture of his tummy because he had paint all over and then he wanted me to take a picture of his back as well. He's so funny!

Here are some pictures of his artwork.

Some of This and Some of That

It is official that I chose the absolute worst summer to be pregnant in. We haven't had highs like this in I don't know how long but the heat is ridiculous. I think that it is probably my biggest pregnancy complaint at this time. I only have 3 more weeks to go though so I think I will survive.
Jesse did the Biggest Loser competition through the hospital again and he had his parents and one other guy on his team. Their team won overall again and Jesse is looking so good. I need to get a picture of him on here. This is the second time he has done it and when he started last summer he weighed 296 and he got down to 228! I am so proud of him. He is trying to eat healthier and exercise more even now that the competition is over. I knew he had gained weight but I didn't realize it was as much as it was until he started losing it.
My brother Tim came down and spent a week with us. I hope he had a good time because all I ever really wanted to do was sit down and do nothing because of the dang heat. He got to play video games to his heart's content and we took him to the 4th of July parade and the lake. Atreyu loved playing in the sand and would destroy any sand castle that Tim or I would attempt to make. I always forget to take pictures but I did get a couple while we were eating at the lake and Atreyu kept glaring at me and saying, "no, mommy".

Atreyu and I drove up to Rexburg to pick Tim up and we stopped at a Burger King for lunch. He loves chicken and fries and had a good time playing with his crown. As I was sitting at the table I noticed this advertisement for a Bacon Sundae. I thought it sounded pretty gross and I had to take a picture and send it to Jesse. I have heard that they are actually pretty good but I don't know if I could eat one. It seems more like a Cody thing.

On our drive home, one of our tires blew out right by the Inkom exit and I was so, so grateful Josh hadn't left for Bear Lake yet and was able to help us get the tools we needed and change the tire. He jokes and teases all the time but I am so thankful for him and I really love that guy. He would do just about anything for us and I am so glad that we have him as a friend.

For Christmas last year, we gave Atreyu a Tonka dump truck that used to be Jesse's. He has always liked it but recently he has started playing with it more and he likes to sit on it and ride it around. He was sitting on it watching a movie the other day and it made me laugh. I think he such a funny kid. I also got a picture of him on it being a "bucket-head". What a great kid!!

My Baby and Big Boy "Baby"

I can't believe it is July!! I don't know where the year has gone but I am getting more excited everyday for this little girl to finally arrive. I was able to go in for an ultrasound today and Marty got some good shots of her face. It looked like she might be sucking her thumb so it's possible we may end up with 2 thumb suckers.
She is growing well and moving a lot. I love how you can see some of the chub on her cheeks in these pictures. Marty also said that he could see some hair so we might not have an almost bald baby this time. I am feeling pretty well. Just the normal complaints at this point...shortness of breath, the heat and constantly having to go to the bathroom. But it's all worth it in the end.

Atreyu knows something is going on. He keeps saying "baby, mommy" to me and then wants to be snuggled. He has to keep reminding me that he is the baby. I am a little nervous to see how he does with the baby but it will all work out (I hope). The two of us shared some Oreo cookies and milk the other day and whenever he eats those things, I just want to take a picture. He always looks so darn cute.

Jesse likes to play basketball a few times a week and we also had the NBA finals on a lot so Atreyu really likes basketball. As I was driving by the thrift store today, I saw that someone had donated a children's basketball hoop and since I was kind of looking for one I got out and asked how much they wanted for it. They weren't actually open at the time but since there was a volunteer out there, I was able to get it for $3. Atreyu was very excited for it!

I just had to post the next picture because I thought it was funny. Atreyu found the camera and took a picture of himself.

He started throwing a little fit before his nap and I was able to get a somewhat funny picture of him. If I take pictures when he's mad, it makes him more mad.

I am glad that I have been able to stay home with Atreyu and get so much one-on-one time with him. He can be so much fun and I just love being with him. It's a kind of bittersweet feeling having this new baby coming. I think I may miss having time for just me and Atreyu but I am so excited to welcome another little spirit into our family. We are truly blessed.
