Learning and Playing

Cambria is growing up so much.  She can climb stairs (or boxes), walk along objects and stand all on her own.  I'm pretty sure she will be walking within the month.  I love how proud of herself she is whenever she accomplishes something.
Cambria has also discovered the fun that comes with playing in the laundry hamper.  She and Atreyu both love it and had a blast!
Atreyu also likes climbing anything he can especially when there is food involved.  He loves pistachios and he climbed up onto the counter to get them.

Both the kids love visiting Daddy at work and getting cookies.  Jesse put Cambria up on his shoulders and she thought it was so funny.  She laughed and laughed.  And, of course, she has her scarf.
This last picture is one of Atreyu.  I thought he looked so handsome this day.

Lego Creations

Atreyu loves to play Lego's with Daddy.  He can make requests for anything and Jesse delivers.  I posted Wall-e and Eve earlier this year and here are some more.
Here are Superman, Iron-man, The Hulk and The Human Torch.  Atreyu has been having a blast playing with the latter three.  He and Jesse can play superheroes and bad guys for hours.  I absolutely love watching them interact with each other.  Atreyu wants Daddy to play everyday.

Summertime Fun

I love that the days are now a little cooler than they have been.  I hate being hot.  We've had some fun this summer and last week Atreyu thought that playing outside in his undies was a stupendous idea.  He didn't strip down until he got wet but then he thought he should just keep playing.  He loves running through the sprinkler.
We've had Grandma's play kitchen in our yard for a few weeks. Atreyu has so much fun making all his creations.  He and all the grand kids love adding water to the kitchen and washing their dishes and making soup and other such creations.

Our Handsome Boy

Atreyu is a funny kid.  I enjoy watching and listening to him play so much.  He absolutely loves to play with boy toys but occasionally he likes some girl things too.  He had to bring one of Grandma's baby dolls home a couple weeks ago and he has hardly touched it since.  He has loved playing out in the sandbox this year and every time he comes in super dirty.  He loves to climb...trees, his bunk-bed, the fence...you name it.  He's a little monkey.
Last week the fair was in town so we decided to head out one evening.  Atreyu has never been on rides before and he loved them.  His favorite was the jet-ski ride.  He rode it three times.  He also went on a car ride once, the big slide once with Jesse and Jesse and I each took him on the jungle gym type one.  He had a blast and I loved watching his excitement.

We are hoping Atreyu can get into the headstart program this fall.  We are over income so he may not get in but our fingers are crossed.  He still had an assessment just in case he was accepted and he did really well.  Apparently, the kids are supposed to be able to dish up food for themselves, something I have never even thought of letting Atreyu do.  When we got home I let him try it out and he did great!  I think it's crazy that I already have a child who is old enough for preschool.  He was just born, right?

Atreyu is obsessed with super heroes and he says he wants super hero stuff for Christmas.  He loves to pretend to be the Hulk most of all.  He has such a fun imagination.  I haven't been enforcing afternoon naps as much lately because there are a lot of days when he doesn't really need them, but on the days when he does need them and I haven't laid him down yet this is what happens...
I just love this little boy!

Our Beautiful Girl

I think it is interesting how, even at such a young age, boys are boys and girls are girls.  Before Atreyu turned one he liked trucks and tractors and knew how to make sounds for them without being shown how.  Cambria already likes to dress up.  I have a little scarf that she loves to put on and wear around.  I showed her how to do it once and ever since then she thinks it's the greatest thing.

She also found the headband I wore when we got married and she knew that she needed to put it on her head.  She's our little princess.
Cambria has recently discovered this little car and she loves playing with it.  She dances when the music plays and she is just so proud of herself when she can climb up on it.  She is growing so fast and learning so many things.
Cambria loves to feed herself and rarely ever lets me help her.  She is her own little person and likes to be independent.
Last week I took the kids to the thrift store.  I usually just let them play in the toy area while I look around.  I hadn't even left them for a minute when one of the ladies that works there asked me if my little girl was okay on the stairs.  Apparently, Cambria knows how to climb the stairs.  She had never done it before that day but she managed to get to the very top in less than a minute.  She now loves to climb Grandma and Grandpa's stairs.

Cambria seems to take her time doing new things but once she decides to do them, she is already a master.  On Sunday she was climbing up on the little bench in my classroom and the other day she said, "gampa."  What a funny, smart sweetheart.

Happy 1st Birthday Cambria!!

My little girl is 1!!  I have no idea where the past year has gone.  Cambria is such a sweet girl and I am so glad that we have been blessed with her.  When she woke up in the morning, she pulled her self up to standing in her crib for the first time.  She had a cinnamon roll and blueberries for breakfast while Daddy and Atreyu were sleeping.
After she had her morning nap we headed out to the lake.  The water was pretty cold and she did not enjoy it.  Atreyu and Jesse went out a bit farther and had fun but we all spent most of the time on the beach making sand castles.  It was a beautiful day!  On our drive home I realized I wasn't in any of the pictures.  I definitely need to work on that next time.

Both kids fell asleep on the way home but they woke up for their bath.  One of Cambria's favorite things is bath time!  After they got all cleaned up, they went up to Grandma and Grandpa's for a bit and played with Enoch and Alora who were visiting.

We had one of Cambria's favorite dinners: lasagna.  She loved it!  We then sang "Happy Birthday" and enjoyed some cake and ice cream.  We gave Cambria a cupcake and she didn't seem to know what to do at first.  She smashed it pretty good.  Grandpa gave her a taste and then she knew what to do and loved it.  She always has to put her hands in her hair when she's eating.

After we got Cambria cleaned up, she opened her presents (with the help of Atreyu and Alora).  She really likes the ball popper we got her and the musical birthday card.

We have been trying to get Cambria to say "da-da" forever.  It seems that now that she's one she is able to do it.  She said it multiple times that day and continues to say it.  Jesse loved that she finally did it.  I'm glad we were able to celebrate with our little girl on her first birthday.
