Breast Cancer
This summer my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer. You hear about people getting cancer but you never think it will be you or anyone in your family. It was rather shocking but she had a good prognosis so it's been a bit easier to stay positive. She just underwent surgery to have the cancer removed and they were able to get all of it and she will not have to undergo chemo or radiation. I know that this is a very big trial for my mom to go through and I can only imagine what it must be like but I know that she is a strong woman and with the help of our Heavenly Father she and all of us will be able to make it through this trial. Atreyu painted a picture for Grammie to have to help brighten her day. Here are some pictures of him and Cambria as he painted.
As I said, you never expect someone in your family to be diagnosed with cancer but you really never expect 2 people in your family to be diagnosed with the same type of cancer within months of each other. That's right...my maternal grandmother was just diagnosed with breast cancer as well. She doesn't want to do much about it since she is in her 80's and my grandpa passed away a few years ago. I understand the way she feels but it's difficult for me to think that she might have to suffer so much before the cancer may take her. She is meeting with some doctors to discuss some options so we will see what happens.
With both these dear women being diagnosed with breast cancer, it is making me more aware of the disease and the precautions I need to take. It is a scary disease but there is a much higher rate of survival if it is caught early so I am going to do what I need to do and be an example to those around me about breast cancer awareness.

Rachel, I'm so sorry! I hope and pray she will be able to overcome this. We love you!
ReplyDeletePrayers & hugs!!!! Cancer definately does not discriminate! And is horrible no matter who gets or how easy/hard it is to treat! Glad your Mom is okay!!! I lost my Grandma to cancer a few years ago after a 5 year battle.
ReplyDeleteOH and just a suggestion from a fellow blogger, ever thought about changing your font? It is really hard to read.
