They gave me a spinal and I got all numbed up and then they began the surgery. I felt a little bit of pressure but, thank goodness, no pain. They pulled her out at 6:24 and she cried right away. What a wonderful sound!! I am so grateful everything went well with her. She weighed in at 7 lbs 8 oz and she measured 19 inches long. I kept telling Jesse throughout the pregnancy that she had better have hair because of all the heartburn and sure enough, she came out with a full head of beautiful, dark hair.
I was able to start nursing her in recovery and she latched on right away and has been doing awesome with it ever since. The day after I had Atreyu I was able to take only Ibuprofen and I was just fine so I tried it with Cambria as well but I was in so much pain. I decided to take the narcotics and I felt so much better. Without them, I was thinking that I might not ever want to have another baby again but I am already over those thoughts.
Grandma and Grandpa brought Atreyu in and the very first thing he said when he saw her was "little one". It was so cute! I thought he would've said baby or something to that effect but this was even cuter. He gave her a few kisses and held her for a bit but other than that, he didn't pay her much attention. She gave him a gift of Matchbox cars so he spent most of the time playing with them. He did really well staying with Grandma and Grandpa but he was glad when we came home.
I was really nervous how Atreyu would be with Cambria around but he has been so good. He likes to kiss her and hold her occasionally. We told him that mommy has a big owie on her tummy and he has been really good to be soft with me and understand that I can't pick him up. He is just so smart! I want to get a picture of the two of them together but Atreyu keeps moving before I get a chance so I'll keep working on that. I love seeing Jesse with our new babies. I'm always so excited before they even get here and I like to ask Jesse if he's excited and he says yes but I guess men just don't get excited the same way since they aren't the ones carrying the baby. Once baby gets here, however, he loves to hold them and love on them. I just love our sweet babies and I am so thankful for the opportunity to be their mother.
Oh my gosh I'm so excited to meet her in a few days!!! And you totally called it... Look at all that hair! I love her right down to those rosy cheeks and beautiful face. Congrats Rach and Jesse!
