Skunks

We have had so many skunks around our neighborhood this summer. A couple of our neighbors' dogs have killed two of them and Jesse and a few others have shot a few. Diesel, on the other hand, barks and barks at them, gets sprayed, and lets them run away. He has been sprayed this summer alone at least eight times. It's ridiculous!! I think his sense of smell must be shot.

Jesse was down in Salt Lake working in July and the kids and I were inside. I heard Diesel barking like crazy but I really didn't think it would be a skunk because it was only about 6:00 and sunny. I sent Atreyu out to see what it was and he came running back in screaming that it was a skunk. I went out and, sure enough, there was a skunk under the van. I thought about getting the shotgun and shooting it but I thought that was a poor weapon choice being as the skunk was right next to the house. I called Kyler Higley and he came up and shot the skunk multiple times with his .22 before it died. He and Eddie then helped me get rid of it. 

The skunk didn't seem too afraid of us and the cats didn't seem to have any problem with it. I'm glad we were able to get rid of yet another one.
